How do I order a cake?
Please submit an inquiry through the contact page and you can expect a response within 24-48 hours. The remainder of the process includes the following:
D E P O S I T: To book, a 50% deposit will secure your event date. You can view cake prices using the “Pricing Guide” button below. This deposit will count toward the total price of your final cake. I do not hold celebration dates without a deposit, so there is a possibility your date may not be available if you choose to wait until after your tasting.
T A S T I N G: If you so choose, order a cake taster box! Tastings occur once per month, typically on the last Saturday of each month. Sample boxes include six cake flavors in the form of 2-layer cake jars. Please note that booking a tasting does not secure your event date. There are two tasting format options:
a. Sit-down experience: Connor will meet you at Lofty Coffee in Encinitas where he’ll treat you to coffee and have a prepared table ready with your choice of six cake tasters. At this meeting we will also conduct a design meeting where we will review a personalized draft design sketch based on your event day styling and vision. This option is $150, and $50 will be refunded to you should you choose to book your wedding cake. For cake pick-up orders worth less than $1000, cake samples will not be refunded.
b. Pick-up: If you'd prefer to pick up your cake box to-go and enjoy the samples on your own, this option is $80. We will then follow-up with a phone call design meeting to finalize your cake details once you’ve booked your date. $50 will be refunded to you should you choose to book your wedding cake. For cake pick-up orders worth less than $1000, cake samples will not be refunded.
D E S I G N M E E T I N G: If you choose to forgo the sit-down option or cake tasting all together, we will follow-up with a design meeting. During this meeting, you will be presented with a personalized design sketch based on your event vision and inspiration photos. We will discuss your design, color palette, flower arrangements, and any changes you’d like to make. Once we finalize your cake design, size, and flavor you’ll receive a final quote, and the remainder must be paid no later than 30 days prior to your event date. From there you’ll be all set to receive your dream cake!

Do you create all designs?
My design work utilizes hand-made, edible artistry inspired from many aspects of nature and organic geometry. I respectfully decline to make “vintage”-style/ “lambeth”-style cakes. I specialize in creating edible artistry using various mediums such as buttercream, wafer paper, rice paper, and fondant.
Do you offer cakes designed with fresh flowers?
In general, the cake designs offered are those utilizing buttercream, wafer paper, fondant, gum paste, or rice paper. If you prefer fresh florals over handmade + edible versions, I will politely refer you to a different cake maker in the area.
How far in advance should I book my cake?
I typically book wedding cakes between 6 to 12 months in advance. I recommend booking quickly so you can ensure you can reserve your place on my calendar. I also have limited short-term availability within 3 months. If you’d like to reserve your date prior to proceeding with the design process, you can place a “save-the-date” deposit which will guarantee your spot for your event and will also count toward your total cake order.
Do you offer cakes with dietary restrictions?
Yes, some of the cake flavors offered can be made into gluten-friendly, vegan or dairy-free. Please reference the menu where you can view which flavors can be altered for special dietary restrictions (see the “gf” or “v”). Cake samples with dietary restrictions are only offered once you’ve booked your event date.
How many flavors can I choose for my cake?
You can have as many flavors as you have tiers of cake. Each kitchen cake can also be a separate flavor. Pricing-wise, two flavors are included in the base price of the cake, and each additional flavor incurs $200.
How large of a cake should I order to feed all of my guests?
In general, my standard recommendation is to feed about 80% of your guest count, assuming cake will be served during the dancing portion of your wedding reception, and not as a seated dessert course. This takes into account those who decide not to eat cake, have dietary restrictions, or are too busy dancing. Some couples choose to feed 100% of their guest count with the intention of having a few slices of cake left over for themselves the next day. Feeding 100% of your guest count would also be appropriate if your cake is served during the seated dessert course of your meal. With that in mind, I recommend beginning with choosing your ideal cake size that meets your preferred aesthetic, and then supplementing with kitchen cakes (undecorated round cakes, listed on the “single-tier” cake page of the pricing guide) or faux tiers (foam interior, frosted with buttercream) to subtract from the amount of cake serve. Following the 80% rule, for example, if 100 guests are attending your event and your goal is to feed 80 servings worth of cake, and you’d like to have a three-tier cake that feeds 46 servings, about 34 servings can be provided in kitchen cakes to supplement the display cake. The kitchen cakes will be provided directly to the kitchen staff upon delivery, and generally are not displayed. Alternative to the previous example, if you choose to have a five-tiered cake, which typically feeds 132 servings, but your guest count is only 100, faux tiers can be substituted for select tiers of the cake to bring the serving count down close to 100 servings. There are many possible combinations, and we can determine your specific need for your event.
Do you offer desserts other than cake?
I am not offering other desserts at this time.
Do you provide cake stands?
I do not rent cake stands, but I can procure your cake stand on your behalf and set your cake upon it during delivery and setup.
How long does it take to make an average wedding cake?
Depending on the design, the average wedding cake will take anywhere from 15-30 hours over the course of 5-10 days to complete. This depends on the size of the cake and the intricacy of the design.
